Sony Tablet P, the First Foldable Panel Computer on Sale

Sony has released the first dual-screen Honeycomb folding panel—Sony Tablet P in Taiwan. It mainly targets the young business office workers, who require panel functions of action-integration and intelligence. There are three colors for this panel and also its rounded shape and clamshell are changeable. It weighs 372 grams and it sizes about a general long wallet. In addition, Sony launched the 3G version of the well sold Sony Tablet S series.

The most distinguished feature of Sony Tablet P is the use of two 5.5 inch LED Honeycomb displays. Users can browse websites on one screen and type in by the virtual keyboard on the other screen at the same time or they can change into one-screen display with the other screen only with control options, which can reduce power consumption and prolong its working hours. However, as some related dual-screen apps and software have yet been released, it will come to some faults between the two displays when reading, playing games or using other functions. To deal with this problem, Sony Vaio & Mobile Mr.Goto said Sony would improve its design to a seamless one and have releases of some related apps and software before long.

In terms of the special design of the panel’s appearance, Mr. Goto said that it is easy to hold because of its curved-line design. Its design concept is also like holding a magazine—if we put a magazine into our pockets, it is usually rolled up. As for the 5.5 inch displays, it adapts image resolution of 1024*480 in keeping with the high screen quality of modern smart phones. In addition, when browsing websites, users only need to have downward slides instead of moving right or left to adjust reading pages.

Sony Tablet P has integrated technologies in software and hardware. It provides swift and smooth entertainment experiences for its users by equipping Android 3.2 system, nVIDIA Tegra 2.1 dual-core mobile processor, Wi-Fi and 3G and supporting Sony Quick View and Quick Touch. As for the screens, it adopts Sony TruBlack and anti reflection technologies. Even though it is used outdoors, it displays great performance in high contrast. It is also equipped with a built-in 2GB capacity and it supports Micro SD card. It is very convenient whenever users want to take a shot outdoors.
