2012 Spring & Summer Fashion Focus — the Ocean

Many famous brands like Versace, Chanel, Holly Fulton, Alexander McQueen, etc, released their Spring& Summer series in the theme of ocean stories. Designers express their concept of lightness, softness and holiday party either in an abstract or a concrete way.

Chanel Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld launched a dazzling series in the concept of water. His designed clothes are soft and light. New materials shine with glimmer like colorful nacre. In the show of Giorgio Armani, it seemed to be clouded with blurry moon light on the sea, or say, milky flash of shell nacre.

Directed by Creative Director Sarah Burton, the series of Alexander McQueen is the most aesthetical among all the ones of ocean themes. The series presents the feeling of sea goddess. In terms of clothes details, we can see swing of the princess empire-waist pleated trim during the model’s cat walk. From the words of Sarah Burton, it just looks like that the jellyfish swims in the sea.

Holly Fulton’s designs are inspired from women in vacation. Designers use coral printing and embroider, decorated with shells, to present patterns of aquarium.

It is both of brand characteristic and surprise to the public.
