GMC standards are generalized from the survey of 20,000 global buyers' opinions.
The manufacturer who is marked with the GMC logo, is the outstanding supplier who possesses the qualification with the following standards.

All the GMC applicants must agree to accept inspection from Intertek and to provide relevant documents confirming annual export revenue. According to the result of inspection, applicant who meets with the following rules can get the GMC logo.
It must satisfy all the four Obligatory Criteria;
It must not be against of the five Referential Criteria.
Obligatory Criteria (Four Items)
I. Certified manufacturer
(Having the ownership or being the major shareholder of the factory)
GMC members must be real manufacturers, not trading agents. He must either owns a factory or be a major shareholder, who has a group of workers possessing manufacturing. The real manufacturer is an important evaluating basis of the selection of excellent Manufacturers for international buyers. Cooperating with real manufacturers is the best way to increase the profit margin of both sides and to accelerate the developments of international trade.
II. High qualified productivity
(Certified certificates: ISO, CE, UL, TUV, GS, etc.)
All the GMC members must produce products of best quality. Quality is the key factors of international trade, determining whether the trading relationship would be durable or not. GMC members should guarantee the quality of products and provide effective certificates which are recognized by certain authorities (e.g. UL, CE, etc.) or establish a management system to stabilize the quality of products (e.g. ISO). Manufacturers who are no able to provide the certificates for exportation and quality will not be issued the GMC logo.
III. Expertise team of foreign trade
(Team members master English and have experience in foreign trade)
All the GMC members must have their expert teams of foreign trade, which has the knowledge of exportation. Professional communication skill of international trade is vital for the success of international trade. An expert team of foreign trade should fully understand the process of international trade and be able to write formal business correspondences, also, have efficient communication skill and the ability to introduce products technically.
IV. Considerable company size
(Annual export revenue over USD 2,500,000 or annual total revenue over USD 5,000,000)
GMC members must fulfill certain standard of exportation volume or total revenue, which decides the competence of the manufacturers.
Referential Criteria (Five Items)
I. R&D ability
(Having R&D department and some patent products)
Competent manufacturer should have his professional R&D department. Nowadays, patents and intellectual property rights have become more and more important. Strong R&D ability is a competitive advantage of a factory.
II. SER (Social Environmental Responsibility)
(Having healthy working environment and not employ child labor)
Social Environmental responsibility is a requirement for competent manufacturers. As of the standard of GMC, it refers to the content of working hours, child labor, working environment and other laws or regulations the Chinese government imposes.
Working Hour: Competent manufacturers should obey the law while setting the working hours for their employees. Employees should not work more than 72 hours in every 6 days or should not work more than 14 hours per day. Employees should be given days off according to law (at least one day per week) and the right to ask for leave.
Child Labor: No child labor would be allowed in GMC members, no matter in which steps of manufacturing or distribution. The age of the labor should meet the regulation which is set by law.
Working Environment: Manufacturer should provide his employees with a safe, clean, healthy and productive working environment. Emergency Exits, Equipment for Safety and Medical Care should be available in the factory.
III. Experience on dealing with large commercial buyers
Competent manufacturers should have the experience on exportation and have built up good business relationships with large commercial buyers from foreign countries. This is an important standard of evaluating an excellent manufacturer. Large commercial buyers are defined as the buyers who have great influences in certain industries.
IV. Good reputation
Competent manufacturer should have good reputation in the industry, which means he produces products of good quality and has never disobeyed the laws before.
V. OEM/ODM experience
(Having at least 1 year OEM/ODM experience)
Excellent manufacturers should have the experience on OEM/ODM, which not only decides the manufacturers’ capability of large amount producing, but also indicates the producing capacity and quality of the products approved by international buyers.
